Fred & Ced, Pete & Kathi and Nancy Whitaker (Eric’s soon-to-be-mother-in-law) spent 6 – 11 Feb on a ski vacation in Crested Butte, CO. We had a great time (pictures to follow over the weekend)! For Fred & Ced and Nancy, it was the second trip to Crested Butte – you always go back to a good thing. P&K did some X-country skiing, while the rest downhilled, on Sunday. Kathi then impressed us all with an all day downhill ski lesson on Monday. By Tuesday, she was ready to fly, with just a few more instructions from the Dolder brothers....you know how that goes...
Ced had a nice "history" day on Tuesday, walking in historic Crested Butte, and was ready for some more knee torture on the slopes on Wednesday. P&K had their shopping/exploring/history day on Wednesday. Everyone could do what they wanted, when they wanted, making everyone ready for tales to tell at dinner!
No lift-lines and a good mix of sun, new-snow and good food made for a great time. The accommodations in the Grand Lodge suite even allowed us to make our own fondue one night. Fred especially was ready to ski from about 9:30AM until 3:30PM. The rest of us less. Some of us ate lunch some of us didn’t! The new shaped skies really elevated everyone’s skiing ability, so much so that the available hot tub and massage was a welcome respite. We all plan to do this again next year and you should consider joining us. We might even investigate a larger condo, rather than suites.
